Do you struggle with the day-to-day menial stuff? Things like the laundry stacking up, the garbage that needs to be taken out, the dentist’s appointment, having to make a list, go to the grocery store and figure out what to make for dinner, etc. These are the little things that need to be dealt with and they can stack up in a hurry. Along with work, family and other activities, these things really add a lot of stress to life.
Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck. I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me. I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God. (Psalm 69:1-3)
We all grapple with our schedules. You feel guilty for ignoring your family when your work schedule is heavy. You feel guilty for neglecting your work when family needs your attention, and all of those little things just make it worse. Finding a balance is difficult, but it can be done. Stress will destroy you physically, emotionally and spiritually; if you let it. Big trials in life usually come along when you least expect them, and when they do, the little stuff seems to disappear. How do you get rid of the little stuff without having to have a big crisis come along and overshadow it?
What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on men. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil – this is the gift of God. (Ecclesiastes 3:9-13)
The struggles and stress we face ever day are a direct result of our relationship with God. The farther away from God you put yourself; the easier it is for the stress to destroy you. Finding the balance and getting the messy little things under control requires a healthy dose of Scripture and prayer. It is essential to seek God and walk daily with Jesus Christ. In Him you will find relief and guidance.
May our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who loved us and by His grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17)
When I started Voice of a Patriot, I feared that The Determined Christian would suffer, and it has. I feel guilty for neglecting my duty here. However, I am also compelled to write to encourage my fellow Christians to stand strong for Christ and this Nation in this dark and ugly political season. So, for the next few months I will only be posting here a couple of times a week (probably on Tuesdays and definitely on Fridays). You can subscribe to this blog and have an e-mail sent to let you know when a fresh post is up. My heart is here, sharing my love for Christ with anybody willing to accept it. It has been a struggle to find balance, but God has led me to this temporary solution. May He guide you and give you balance in your daily struggles as well.
